Art Corner Update
I've slapped together some assets to test out if it all works with some level of art representation. While throwing together some random assets isn't necessarily a great idea for development work, it's a good idea to do early to test performance and to make sure all your systems are sufficiently 'defensively designed' to prevent art breaking core functionality.
Also, art tends to lead to a rabbit hole of new features that are required suddenly, and here's what got rolled in today.
- Main menu with name selection
- On-screen health bars for all connected players
- A general UI system to handle all menus in the game for future content
- An automated light baking pipeline and a new shader optimised for mobile/webgl
- Characters now acknowledge variable topology on the Y axis (so the game can be played with height, hills, stairs, ramps, etc), and a slew of bug fixes that this required
- NPC's now respawn their animation controllers properly after death so you aren't attacked by 'alien corpses that don't move'
- Lighting optimisations, player and npc shader rebuilds, navigation changes and aiming changes
